SPECIALIST EATING DISORDER AND COMPLEX EATING DIETITIAN

ACCREDITED PRACTISING DIETITIAN | ACCREDITED NUTRITIONIST | CREDENTIALED EATING DISORDER CLINICIAN | CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

Evidence-based, individualised support for adolescents and adults experiencing eating disorders and complex relationships with food.

My approach is guided by the Hidden Drivers Framework™, which focuses on understanding the nutritional, biological, emotional, behavioural and environmental factors that may be maintaining eating patterns.

To provide thoughtful, high-quality care, I intentionally maintain a limited client load.

EATING DISORDER AND COMPLEX EATING PRESENTATIONS

YOU MAY BE EXPERIENCING PATTERNS OR DIFFICULTIES SUCH AS:

Diagnosed eating disorders:

Anorexia Nervosa

Bulimia Nervosa

Binge Eating Disorder or Overeating

OSFED

ARFID

Eating Related Patterns and Experiences:

Food guilt and shame after eating

Chronic dieting or cycles of restriction

Anxiety around food, weight or body image

Loss of control or distress around eating

Persistent or intrusive food-related thoughts

These experiences are often influenced by a combination of nutritional, biological, emotional, behavioural and environmental factors, which can vary significantly from person to person.

Through the Hidden Drivers Framework™, we work to better understand what may be maintaining these patterns in your individual situation.

Support can be helpful even when eating difficulties are complex, fluctuating, or don’t fit neatly into a single diagnosis.

MY CLINICAL APPROACH

I bring specialist expertise in eating disorder care, grounded in a trauma-informed, body-respecting and evidence-based approach.

Alongside my clinical work, I have over a decade of experience in service development and clinical leadership, including establishing and coordinating a low-cost eating disorder service in the Illawarra and working as the SESLHD Eating Disorder Coordinator.

I have also contributed to the profession through leadership roles within Dietitians Australia, including as Secretary of the Eating Disorder Interest Group, and I am a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician and qualified clinical supervisor of dietitians.

My clinical approach integrates nutrition science with an understanding of the psychological, behavioural and environmental factors that influence eating disorders and complex eating patterns.

I work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams where appropriate, with a focus on coordinated, individualised care that supports both safety and autonomy.

MEDICARE AND REFERRAL PATHWAYS

Medicare Rebates

As an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) with a Medicare provider number, I am able to offer Medicare rebates for eligible clients.

You may be able to access rebates for dietetic appointments if you have a referral and appropriate care plan from your GP, including:

  • Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDP)

  • Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM)

    • Also known as a Team Care Arrangement (TCA) or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan

These plans are organised by your GP and allow you to receive a set number of rebated sessions per calendar year.

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, I recommend speaking with your GP.

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you may be eligible for a rebate for dietetic services.

  • Rebate amounts vary depending on your insurer and level of cover

  • Payment is made up front, and you can claim directly through your provider

I recommend checking with your health fund prior to your appointment to understand your level of cover.

Private (Self-Funded) Appointments

You are very welcome to attend sessions privately without a referral.

Many clients choose this option if they:

  • Do not have a Medicare care plan

  • Prefer more flexibility in their care

  • Have used their allocated Medicare sessions

Referrals

You can access support in a way that suits you:

  • Self-referral: You can book an appointment directly without a referral

  • GP referral: If you have a referral and relevant Medicare care plan, you may be eligible for rebates

If you’re planning to use Medicare rebates, a referral and care plan from your GP is required prior to your initial appointment.

Not Sure Where to Start?

If you’re unsure about your eligibility, referrals, or rebates, feel free to get in touch. I’m happy to guide you through the process so you can access the support you need.
